Roundcube is a popular web-based email client that allows you to access and manage your email directly from your web browser. This guide will help you navigate the Roundcube interface and make the most of its features.

Accessing Roundcube Webmail #

Login to Webmail:

  • Open your web browser and go to https://yourdomain.com/webmail (replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain).
    • Enter your full email address (e.g., user@yourdomain.com) and password.
    • Click Log in.

2. Navigating the Roundcube Interface #

Once logged in, you will see the main Roundcube interface, which is divided into several sections:

Mailbox View:

  • Folders: On the left side, you’ll see a list of your email folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Trash, etc.).
    • Message List: The middle pane displays a list of emails in the selected folder.
    • Message Preview: The right pane shows the content of the selected email.

Toolbar:

  • Located at the top of the interface, the toolbar provides quick access to common actions such as composing, replying, forwarding, deleting, and searching emails.

3. Reading Email Messages #

Selecting an Email:

  • Click on any email in the Message List to view its content in the Message Preview pane.
    • Double-clicking an email will open it in a new window for a more detailed view.

Email Actions:

  • Reply: Click the Reply button in the toolbar to respond to the sender.
    • Reply All: Click Reply All to respond to the sender and all recipients.
    • Forward: Click Forward to send the email to another recipient.
    • Delete: Click Delete to move the email to the Trash folder.
    • Mark as: Use this option to mark the email as read/unread, flagged, or other status.

4. Composing New Emails #

Creating a New Email:

  • Click the Compose button in the toolbar to open a new email window.
    • Fill in the recipient’s email address in the To field. You can add additional recipients in the Cc and Bcc fields if needed.
    • Enter the Subject of your email.

Writing the Email:

  • Type your message in the main body area.
    • Use the formatting toolbar to add styles, links, and other formatting options to your text.

Attachments:

  • Click the Attach a file icon (paperclip) to add attachments to your email.
    • Select the file(s) you want to attach from your computer.

Sending the Email:

  • Click Send to send your email.
    • If you’re not ready to send, you can click Save to store it in the Drafts folder for later.

5. Organizing Emails #

Moving Emails:

  • Drag and drop emails from the Message List to different folders to organize them.
    • You can also right-click on an email and select Move to to move it to another folder.

Creating Folders:

  • Right-click on the folder list and select Manage Folders.
    • Click + to add a new folder, enter a name for the folder, and click Save.

6. Using the Search Function #

Basic Search:

  • Enter keywords in the search bar at the top of the Message List to find specific emails.

Advanced Search:

  • Click the magnifying glass icon in the search bar to access advanced search options.
    • You can search by sender, recipient, subject, date range, and more.

7. Settings and Preferences #

Accessing Settings:

  • Click the Settings button (usually represented by a gear icon) in the upper right corner of the interface.

Managing Account Settings:

  • From the settings menu, you can update your personal information, change your password, and configure your email signature.

Configuring Display Preferences:

  • Adjust the interface layout, theme, and other display preferences to suit your needs.

Setting Up Filters:

  • Create rules to automatically organize incoming emails based on criteria you define (e.g., sender, subject, keywords).

8. Logging Out #

Logging Out:

  • To log out of Roundcube, click your email address in the upper right corner and select Logout.
